Coweta, Oklahoma — A crime has set back two school districts in Green Country.
Catalytic converters have been stolen from several vehicles belonging to Drumlight and Koweta’s school. Crime is an additional stressor that the first day of the semester is only a few days.
Rick Green, director of transportation at Coweta Public School, says a thief kicked the barn gate of the bus and crawls beneath. Six vehicles were targeted.
The only regret of the district is not having a surveillance camera.
“It costs a lot of money for the school district,” Green said.
CPS has car insurance, but it still costs a lot of $ 10,000.
“Well, it’s very close to the beginning of school,” Green said. “We want all of them to be repaired by the time the school starts, because it delivers our food to all of our different schools.”
Kaueta’s bus barn was stolen a week ago. Seven days later, a neighbor of the facility was also attacked.
“It works fine, but it works pretty loud,” said Rev. Adam Mask of the Community Baptist Coweta.
The catalytic converter was removed from the church van on Tuesday night. The building security video shows that you will act within 3 minutes.
“That was all,” Musk said. “This is a very devoted church, so my heart breaks for him. If anyone is in trouble, we want to help you.”
Musk handed the video to the police.
Michael Bell, police chief of Coweta, recently said Oklahoma Information Fusion Center You may be able to help. They have the technology to identify vehicles in church videos and perhaps read license plates from them.
“We don’t have that ability,” Bell said. “So it’s great to have an agency in Oklahoma to help us do that.”
Drumlight’s public school district costs more than $ 40,000 in damages. The two buses there are also targeted and repairs are delayed due to supply shortages.
Bell says this type of crime is a national issue that has attracted the FBI’s attention.
