CCSD ‘School Bus Safety Week’ focuses on roadway dangers impacting students – Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas (KLAS) — School bus safety is something that many kids didn’t have to worry about in months of distance learning.

With the recent deaths of many pedestrians on valley roads, the Clark County School District wants to ensure that children are informed of the safety of A-B-C.

This year, the school focuses on classroom health and safety, ensuring that children are safe on the road, whether on the bus or walking to school.

The theme of this year’s Safety Week is “Ensuring safety and knowing the danger zone”.
It refers to the blind spot around the school bus.

Jennifer Bovis, executive director of CCSD Transport, said tires could generate enough wind to inhale pedestrians, which led to the death of commercial buses.
As pedestrian hit-and-run increases, Vobis says this education is just as important to drivers.

“It is very important for people to remember that school has reopened. Students not only get on the bus, but also walk to school, slow down in the school zone, and on the main roads walking on the sidewalk. I’ve even seen students, “says Vobis.

CCSD Transport continues to address the ongoing staff shortage.

According to Vobis, there are currently 240 bus driver vacancies and we are actively hiring them.

The school district launched a “ride-on” initiative with the RTC a few weeks ago to help manage resources.

According to Vobis, more than 1,000 students are attending and another 400 are requesting a bus pass.
