CDC expected to backpedal on some masking guidelines – Albuquerque, New Mexico

Albuquerque, New Mexico 2021-07-27 11:40:39 –

The CDC was scheduled to be announced later that day.

For most pandemics, authorities advised Americans to wear masks outdoors if they were within 6 feet of each other.

Then, as vaccination rates soared in April, the CDC relaxed guidelines for wearing masks outdoors, and fully vaccinated Americans faced unless they were in a large crowd of strangers. He said he no longer needed to cover it. In May, guidance for fully vaccinated people was further relaxed, allowing them to stop wearing masks outdoors in the crowd and in most indoor environments.

Guidance still required wearing masks in crowded indoor environments such as buses, planes, hospitals, prisons, and homeless shelters, but paved the way for reopening work and other places.

Subsequent CDC guidance states that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks in summer camps and schools.

COVID cases, deaths, and hospitalizations have been steadily declining for several months, but early summer, especially in low-vaccination areas, the delta form of the more contagious mutated coronavirus is widespread. These trends have begun to change as prices have begun to spread.

Over the last few weeks, more and more cities and towns have reinstated indoor masking rules. St. Louis, Savannah, Georgia and Provincetown, Massachusetts are one of the places that re-imposed mask obligations this month.
