The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Health advisory Wednesday after “Recent Increase in Influenza Activity”.
The CDC states that influenza activity is still low, but recent increases have been detected in young adults.
“The CDC is also aware of influenza outbreaks at universities in several states,” said the advisory.
According to the CDC, people over 6 months are eligible for the flu vaccine and are protected from four different flu viruses.
“Because of the low activity of influenza last season, we expect to reduce the level of community protection we rely on each year to reduce the risk of a serious influenza season,” said the CDC.
according to CDC flu tracker, New Mexico was the only stay considered to have “high” levels of influenza activity. All other states were at moderate or lower levels.
