Pasadena, Texas-According to Mayor Jeff Wagner of Pasadena, country music artist Mickey Gilley died at the age of 86.

Since 1957, Mississippi natives have created music based on Louisiana rhythms and blues sounds. Gilly grew up under the influence of music with his two famous cousins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Jimmy Swaggart.

Gilly made her chart topper debut with his song “Is It Wrong For Loving You”, with a total of 39 top 10 hits, 17 of which were number one.

After moving to Pasadena, Texas in 1971, he opened the world-famous Honky-tonk nightclub, Gilley’s.

In 1980 he starred in the movie “Urban Cowboy” with John Travolta, Debra Winger and Jonny Lee. Since then, he has appeared in numerous popular television series, including “Aunt Jessica,” “Fall Guy,” “Fantasy Island,” and “The Dukes of Hazzard.”

He has been inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame with numerous acclaim, including six ACM Awards for being the star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
