According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, charges against a 16-year-old driver are pending after the death of a 17-year-old girl in Myrtle Beach in the Brunswick County crash.
Soldiers said the crash occurred on Sunday at 4:30 am on Highway 17 in Brunswick County. A 16-year-old woman, also from Myrtle Beach, was driving a 2022 Dodge Challenger, who turned right on the road, hit a dike, floated in the air, and rolled several times. Speed is believed to be the cause of the crash.
The soldiers said the three teens in the back seats weren’t wearing seat belts and were thrown out of the car. The 16-year-old driver and passengers in the passenger seat were seriously injured and were able to get out of the car. They are expected to survive.
Two of the teens thrown out of the car were taken to the Grand Strand Medical Center for treatment. The 17-year-old boy died at the crash site, soldiers said. Her identity has not been revealed.
