Parker, Colorado — Parents of Parker’s Leman Academy of Excellence students are desperately looking for a new school in the coronavirus pandemic.

“We were notified,’You need to come back directly in January, five days a week, or look for another school,'” said one who asked to remain anonymous about the story. The mother said.

“They just said,’I have a letter here and I’ll see you later,'” said another mother of a Leman student who wanted to remain anonymous.

Both parents are upset after a private school sent a letter on November 13 stating that distance learning will no longer be an option in the third quarter.

“All neighboring schools throughout the state or in metropolitan areas have become remote, and this school has chosen to do the exact opposite,” said one of his parents.

The Leman Academy of Excellence wrote in a letter to parents that distance learning is no longer “feasible”, saying “the number of distance learning is small and burdens teachers and face-to-face classrooms.” I am.

This letter was sent a few days before Governor Jared Polis recommended that younger grades report to face-to-face learning on Tuesday.

“Especially K-5 wants to emphasize returning to face-to-face instruction. Based on the data, we feel that K-5 is the safest place for many families and many children. . Safety parameters in the school “.

In another letter sent to his parents in midsummer, Leman Academy wrote that 100% distance learning is an option and that students “can re-enter or leave the face-to-face environment at the beginning of a new quarter.”

“When this started, we got the impression that it was available all year round. We had to scramble it, not in the middle of the year,” one parent told Denver 7.

Both parents are worried about sending their child to Leman. As of November 10, the school had five cases on the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s COVID-19 outbreak list.

The Leman Academy instructed parents to decide whether to go directly or look for a new school until November 30th.

We were unable to solicit comments from officials at the Leman Academy of Excellence.
