Federal officials arrested a Chicago police officer on Friday for his alleged role in connection with the January 6 riots at the US Capitol.

Karol J. Chwiesiuk was arrested in his residence in Chicago. Criminal accusation..

He was charged with deliberately entering or staying in a restricted building or premises without legal authority, violent entry, and chaotic behavior on the premises of the US Capitol.

by Chicago sun times, Chwiesiuk was released on Friday with $ 15,000 in unsecured bonds after appearing before a US Magistrate Judge in Chicago.

According to the complaint and the attached photo, Chwiesiuk wore a sweatshirt with the Chicago Police Department logo inside the Capitol.

The affidavit stated that geographic data from his cell phone placed him in the US Capitol between 2:37 pm and 3:24 pm on January 6.

Newspapers reported that police had deprived Chwiesiuk of his authority and assigned him to a desk mission.
