Hampton Roads, Virginia (WAVY) — Thursday, November 25, 2021, many cities, county offices, and organizations will be closed to protect Thanksgiving.

Here is a list of changes in your city or county:

Chesapeake

Chesapeake City Offices, Courts, Community Centers, and Public Libraries will change business hours to comply with Thanksgiving.

The city hall and courts will be closed at noon on Wednesday, November 24th, and will remain closed on Thursdays and Fridays.

DMV Select will close at 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 24th and will be closed on Thursdays and Fridays.

The Public Library, Community Center and CIBH will close at noon on Wednesday, November 24th and will be closed on Thursdays and Fridays.

There will be no garbage or recycling collection on Thursday, November 25th. We will pick up the goods on Thursday, November 26th. Garbage and recycling will be collected on Friday, November 27th (Saturday).

Gloucester

The Gloucester County office will be closed at noon on Wednesday, November 24th, and will remain closed on November 25th and 26th.

Hampton

  • Ccty hall: Closed Thursday and Friday, November 25-26
  • Municipal school: Closed for a week
  • Garbage collection: Thursday or Friday, November 25-26, will not be subject to regular recycling, litter, bulk litter, or garden litter collection. The Thursday collection will take place on Wednesday, November 24th, and the Friday collection will take place on Monday, November 29th.
  • Landfill: Closed on Thursday, reopened on Friday
  • Library, Community Center, Neighborhood Center, Hampton Aquatic Center, Fort Monroe Pool, Finance and Revenue Director, DMV Select, Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center, Air Power Park, Yard Waste Site, Human Services: Closed Thursday and Friday, November 25-26
  • Public golf course: Open until 1pm on Thursdays.Friday normal time
  • City Park, Bluebird Gap Farm, Hampton History Museum, Carousel: Closed on Thursdays, normal business hours on Fridays

James City County offices, facilities, services, libraries, and courts adhere to the following schedule for Thanksgiving holidays:

  • County seat: Closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th
  • James City County Recreation Center and Abram Flink Junior Community Center: Closed on Thursday, November 25
  • park: All county parks are open on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th
  • Park store and guest service office: Offices / stores at Chika Hominy Riverfront Park, Little Creek Reservoir Park, James City County Marina, and Freedom Park are closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th.
  • Convenience Center: Tenning Road and Jolly Pond Road will be closed on Thursday, November 25th. The Toano Convenience Center will be closed until further notice.
  • Garbage relay base: Closed on Thursday, November 25
  • Curve side recycling: A day delay starting on Thursday.Thursday recycles will be picked up on Fridays, Friday recycles will be picked up on Saturdays
  • Library: Closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th
  • court: Closed at noon on Wednesday, November 24th. Closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th

Newport news

  • Ccty hall: Closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th
  • Library: Closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th
  • Garbage, recycling, collection of large amounts of waste: Collection on Thursday, November 25th will take place on Monday, November 29th. All scheduled collections for the week of November 29th will be delayed by one day. That is, Monday collection is on Tuesday and Tuesday is Wednesday. Wednesday is Thursday and Thursday is Friday.
  • Recovery Operations Center: Closed from November 25th to 27th
  • Animal shelter in the peninsula area (Serving residents of Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson and York County) – Closed on Thursday, November 25, due to adoption. Adoption is accepted from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, November 26th. The reunion lobby is open daily from 8 am to 5 pm and allows owners to surrender, retrieve and drop off.

Norfolk

The Norfolk City Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th to protect Thanksgiving holidays.

All recreation centers, Norfolk Public Library locations, and the Slover Library will close at 5 pm on Wednesday, November 24th. All recreation centers and libraries will reopen during normal business hours on Saturday, November 27th.

The Revenue Commissioner, City Treasury Secretary and Norfolk Court will close at noon on Wednesday, November 24th.

Waste management collects routes on Saturday, November 27th and Thursday, November 25th. Routes on Friday, November 26th will be collected as usual. Requests for mass waste collection on Friday, November 26th and Saturday, November 27th must be made by 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 24th. SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station, 3136 Woodland Avenue, will be closed on Thursday, November 25th. Normal business hours for Norfolk residents will resume on Saturday, November 27th. Household hazardous waste is accepted from noon to 4 pm.

Street cleaning scheduled for Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th will be done within two weeks, depending on availability.

Suffolk

The Suffolk City office will be closed on Wednesday, November 24th at 12:00 pm and will remain closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th. Normal operation will resume at 8:30 am on Monday, November 29th.

Garbage and recycling that is regularly collected on Thursday, November 25th will be collected on Friday, November 26th. Garbage collected regularly on Friday, November 26th will be collected on Saturday, November 27th.

Companies located in the Downtown Business Overlay District (DBOD) will run a collection date on Friday, November 26th on a regular basis.

  • The Southern Public Service Authority (SPSA) Transfer Station in Suffolk will be closed on Thursday, November 25th and will be open from 8am to 12pm on Friday, November 26th. The landfill will be closed on Thursday, November 25th and will be open from 8am to 12pm on Friday, November 26th.
  • Suffolk Transit is a holiday and will not operate on Thursday, November 25th. Suffolk Transit will operate on schedule on Wednesday, November 24th, Friday, November 26th, and Saturday, November 27th.
  • Suffolk Parks & Recreation Shared Recreation Centers (Kings Fork, Creekside, Northern Shores, Auckland, Booker T. Washington, McBen Jr.) will be closed on Wednesday, November 24th, Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th. Will remain closed. ..
  • The East Suffolk Recreation Center and Whalely Building Recreation Center will close at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 24th and will be closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th.
  • The Suffolk Parks & Recreation Management Office will close at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 24th and will reopen on Monday, November 29th.
  • The four major parks in Suffolk (Lone Star Lakes, Konstanz Wharf, Sleepy Hole and Bennett Creek) are open during the holidays. However, the Park Attendant will not be working from 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 24th to Monday, November 29th.
  • All Suffolk Municipal Libraries (Morgan Memorial, North Suffolk, Chuckatuck) will be closed on Wednesday, November 24th at 12:00 pm and until November 28th. The Morgan Memorial and North Suffolk Library will reopen at 10 am on Monday, November 29th.
  • The Suffolk Art Gallery closes at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 24th and will be closed from Thursday, November 25th to Monday, November 29th. The Suffolk Art Gallery will reopen on Tuesday, November 30th.
  • The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center and Suffolk Seaboard Station Railway Museum will be closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th due to Thanksgiving holidays. The visitor center will reopen at 9am on Saturday, November 27th, and the Railway Museum will reopen at 10am.
  • The Suffolk Executive Airport Terminal and restaurant will be closed on Thursday, November 25th. The airfield and self-service fuel islands will remain open. The terminal will open on Friday, November 26th, but is unmanned. The restaurant will open on Friday, November 26th.

Virginia beach

The Virginia Beach City office will be closed on November 25th and 26th. In addition, garbage collection will take place on Thursday, November 25th, on Saturday, November 27th.

Williamsburg

To commemorate the Thanksgiving holiday, the Williamsburg City office will be closed on Thursday, November 25, 2021 and Friday, November 26, 2021. This includes the City Hall and Quarterpass Recreation Center offices on Lafayette Street.

The Williamsburg-James City County Hall on Monticello Avenue closes at noon on Wednesday, November 24th, and closes on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th.
