Riverside, California 2022-06-24 00:00:06 –

The city’s last western development plan was in 1989.

Corpus Christi, Texas — Growth and future development may remind you of the vibrant South, but Thursday night Corpus Christi plans to focus on improving the quality of life in the West. I announced the plan. ..

The west constitutes a huge mass of the city, but it is often overlooked. Residents and business owners want more to be done.

The town hall meeting on Thursday gave people the opportunity to give feedback. Janet Rodriguez owns a High Voltage Hair Salon on Morgan Avenue.

She takes pride in running a business in the part of the town where she grew up.

“I saw more possibilities here,” Rodriguez said.

She said she saw progress.

“Every month, I see another person starting a business on this side,” Rodriguez said.

But she knows there may be more.

“When we accept new clients, they’re like what we can do around here,” Rodriguez said. “Currently, people in the position of members of the city council or similar council are speaking out more about what is happening on this side of the town.”

City leaders hope that regional development plans will help.

Rodirguez was one of the people who came to see the first draft of the plan at the open house on Thursday, with a particular focus on the west side of the city.

“From a city planning perspective, this is one of the true parts of our city,” said Annika Yankee, city planning manager.

She said the development plan was like a guide to future development and key decision making in the West.

“We’ve heard many times that people want more housing options, revitalization and more business, more restaurants, retail and park improvements here,” Rodriguez said. Said.

People have come to check different maps and pictures showing what the area looks like, highlighting the direction that city leaders want to go.

Enrique Salinas called the Western house and felt it important to give his opinion.

“We don’t have a park, so I’m very interested in drainage channels, infrastructure, whether it’s a park, and what the city is planning to improve the area. I wanted it, “said Salinas.

The city’s last western development plan was in 1989. Thirty-three years later, the city is now focused on revitalization, culture and security.

This is a vision that will help guide leaders over the years to come.

“We want to see this side grow as the rest of our city grows,” Rodriguez said.

Another open house for the Western Regional Development Program will be held Friday from 10 am to 2 pm at Dr. Greenwood’s McDonald’s Public Library.

A complete copy of the proposed plan can be found on the project website at creatingcc.com.

It’s the place where the survey was conducted on Thursday, and you can help give your opinion as well.
