Colorado Springs, Colorado — The City of Colorado Springs will enact a burn ban order at 12:00 pm on May 16.
The burn ban order is due to current and expected drought conditions, dry fuel moisture levels, increased wildfire outbreaks in the undeveloped areas of Colorado Springs, and faster than normal national readiness level 2.
These restrictions will apply until they are revoked.
Violations of the order may result in a $ 2,500 fine, imprisonment, probation sentence, or a combination of fines, imprisonment, and probation.
Fires that occur in violation of an order will be investigated as a misdemeanor or felony.
Anyone suspected of violating an order should call 719-444-7000 to report.
