Cleveland County, OklahomaKFOR) – Two Cleveland County law enforcement agencies work together to form a multi-jurisdiction Special Weapons and Tactical (SWAT) team in the county.
The SWAT team consists of agents from the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office and police officers from the Moore Police Department.
According to officials, forming a SWAT team will increase resources, improve training, deploy state-of-the-art equipment, and enhance coverage across Cleveland County, a specific need within the county.
“It makes sense to expand the team to multiple institutions,” said Cleveland County Sheriff Chris Amazon. “No matter where you are in the county, the best trained staff will take care of any serious incidents.”
The SWAT team is the latest collaboration in an already close partnership between the sheriff’s office and the police station.
Partnerships are the future of law enforcement, according to Moore Police Chief Todd Gibson.
“This agreement expands relationships, shares resources and benefits the entire Cleveland County,” said Gibson. Currently, this partnership is limited to the Moore Police Station and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Amazon hopes to partner with other agencies in Cleveland County in the future. “We believe that harnessing the power of relationships and partnerships is good for law enforcement and for everyone in Cleveland County,” said Sheriff Amazon.
