Cleveland (WJW) – has a long line Cleveland Hopkins International airport on the eve of the busiest weekend trip in summer.
“I was looking at the departure board, five of which were delayed or canceled,” said traveler Greg Brand.
According to airport officials, 1,600 people will fly from 5 am on Friday.
Greg and his wife Pat flew from Texas to meet Akron’s family.
“I missed the peak because I planned an extra day at the front and back,” said the brand.
Thousands of flights were canceled across the United States on Wednesday and Thursday. The plane is fully booked and there are no seats available for later flights to accommodate stranded travelers.
Tamara Parker-Davis of Cleveland was in Toronto when the flight was cancelled.
“We found out that the schedule was changed on Thursday and we couldn’t pick up our luggage because we didn’t have a hotel,” said Parker Davis.
Hopkins reports that air travel has almost returned to pre-pandemic levels. For airlines that are still recovering from the turmoil of the last two vacations, they have little rest.
