Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky 2022-05-19 13:18:37 –

Hikers died after passing through an ice bridge in Alaska, according to state officials.

A 43-year-old mountaineer from Japan was reportedly unroped by his teammates when he fell near a camp about 8,000 feet on the Kahiltona Glacier.

After contacting the mountaineering ranger, I tried to save the hiker.

According to a statement from the National Parks Authority, “a ranger went into the crevasse as deeply as possible, and the narrow crevasse about 80 feet below the surface of the glacier was filled with heavy snow and ice due to the collapse of the ice bridge. It was confirmed. “

The ranger couldn’t get off any further and couldn’t reach the climber.

Authorities are trying to determine if it is possible to recover the hiker’s body in the next few days.
