Clovis, Calif. (KFSN)-A Clovis doctor died in a car hit at Bullard Avenue on Saturday night.

According to police, the man was a 57-year-old Dr. Sydney Carpenter, a pathologist at Kaiser Permanente.

When Carpenter wasn’t working in the hospital, he could have been seen dancing on the sidewalk at the intersection of Bullard and Temperance.

He did it often, and people in the area called him the “Dancing Man.”

The community gathered for Candlelight Vigil on Sunday night to celebrate the man who brought joy and inspiration to his life, but many had never even met him.

“He knew he was loved a lot. He always told me he was loved by the community. He knew he was loved by many people. “Sonhai Hackett-Carpenter said.

On Saturday night he was crossing Brad Avenue when he was hit by a car.

The driver stayed there and answered the policeman’s question, but Carpenter died on the scene.

Community members are still shocked by the tragedy.

“We needed him at Clovis. We need more such people at Clovis,” said Harman Nagra.

The legendary dancing doctor who overtook him lives on in their hearts.
