CNN will dismiss three unvaccinated employees who entered the office.

CNN said Thursday that it had fired three employees who violated the coronavirus safety protocol by going to an unvaccinated office.

CNN said this year that employees would need to be vaccinated against the virus to return to their US office. The network has relied on the honor system rather than requiring proof of vaccination status.

“Last week I noticed three employees who came to the office without vaccination. CNN president Jeff Zucker wrote in an internal note obtained by the New York Times on Thursday.” However, there is a zero tolerance policy for this. “

Zucker did not say where the employees worked, what position they were in, or how the breach of vaccine obligations was discovered. CNN declined to comment beyond his notes.

“In the coming weeks, we anticipate that showing evidence of vaccination could be a formal part of the process for accessing the network’s workplace,” Zucker added.

Many large companies, including Facebook and Google, have stated that they will require employees to be vaccinated against the virus in order to return to the office. Several companies, including The Washington Post, are taking it further by making vaccination a condition of further employment.

However, few companies explain exactly what the consequences will be for employees who violate vaccine requirements.

In his memo Thursday, Zucker announced that CNN had postponed the return of official American employees to the office on September 7. CNN hasn’t set a new date, but Zucker said sometime in October that “it seems reasonable at this point.” He wrote that “a little over one-third” of CNN’s American newsroom employees are now working regularly in the office again.
