A birthday trip to the beach near Kodiak Island in Alaska made a terrifying turn as a woman, her two friends and two little dogs stuck in a bright pink flamingo inflatable raft.
Holly Spence was celebrating her 30th birthday last weekend. The temperature was relatively warm, and in the 1960s she and her two friends went to the beach with a 10-foot-long pink flamingo. The Washington Post.
As the group rode on a brightly colored raft, the wind blew and swept the flamingos into the frigid waters for the Gulf of Alaska.

A US Coast Guard helicopter arrived soon and was able to airlift a friend and his dog to a safe place.
