Cold clouds hold strong, better snow chances ahead – Wichita, Kansas

Wichita, Kansas 2021-02-11 07:03:02 –

There are no major changes to the weather forecast for Thursday. If you are further west, there may be some cloud breaks, but for many of us the sky remains gray. This means that there can be several snow flurries and light snow today.

After a bitter start with winds below zero, maximum temperatures only reach teens to twenties. Dangerous low winds from -15 to -20 can blow northwest before the afternoon.

Clouds are strong tonight and some flakes are unlikely to fall. The lows are single digits below zero and will be disastrously cold.

Another Arctic blast sinks in the area, carrying even colder air in the next few days.

The highs that end weekly and weekend work are in the single digits. That is, night lows can be below zero. With the addition of a refreshing northeasterly wind, the wind chill will be dangerously low, so expect to see more wind chill alerts.

The chances of snow are high when cold air enters. Snow is more likely to fall in the northwestern part of Friday, but snow flurry is predominant in other areas. Snow showers spread over the rest of the area from Friday night to early Saturday.

The rest of Saturday is dry except for some flurries. This break is short-lived as another snow falls from the west on Saturday night. Snow can occur from Sunday to the beginning of Monday.

People traveling on weekends will have to take extra time due to the snow. However, it’s cold, so it’s best to stay only this weekend. Temperatures are expected to rise after Monday, but will be below freezing for at least another week. Hopefully a clearer break will help raise our spirits.
