Cold front sinking south, spotty rain chances tonight – Wichita, Kansas

Wichita, Kansas 2022-08-06 20:21:28 –

Storms are whipping up tonight as a cold front moves south into the northwest corner of the state.

Coverage is limited and no washout is expected. The showers will end tonight to the northwest, where temperatures will drop into the 60s overnight in that direction.

Southwest Nebraska and northwest Kansas are at marginal risk. Spotty showers can bring strong winds and hail.

It will be dry tomorrow morning, but the storm will return in the afternoon. This will not spread as it isolates the chance of rain. Stowers begins firing north along her I-70 in the afternoon. This is where the boundary hangs around for a while, and the storm becomes stubborn to move south until late in the evening.

Those in front of the front will bake again tomorrow, and the storm potential remains in the northern part of the state, with the border braking and not wanting to dive south until evening.

Heat advisories are in effect for most states through 7pm tomorrow. Remember to drink plenty of water and try to finish your outdoor activities early in the morning or late in the evening.

By late Sunday night, the storm will start blowing into southern Kansas. It rains on and off and remains mostly dry. No bad weather is expected.

Rain will head south early in the week, with people in south-central Kansas most likely to see showers. This boundary takes a sweet time to go south, so the storms are scattered throughout the day.

Temperatures are slightly cooler due to this front, but are still above average in the mid-90s. But hey, it’s better than triple digits. In the north, it will drop into the high 80’s early in the week, but we’ll all bounce back to the 90’s and eventually move closer to triple digits by next weekend.
