Corpus Christi, Texas — Work is officially underway at the new fishing pier at Bayfront Cole Park. Today, local dignitaries gathered in the park to officially start the project. The total cost is now $ 7.5 million.

The new attraction has wider passages. There is also an observatory with seats and a cozy square that serves as the entrance to the pier.

One of the driving forces behind this, city councilman Ben Molina, said the new pier will make great memories over the years to come.

“By building this new pier, what we are doing today will ensure that new memories will be created for families who will enjoy the pier in the future,” Molina said. ..

Mayor Paulette Guajardo was also there.

“The wharf has always been part of the memories we speak, and Molina City Councilors have always reminded us why it is one of the most important things,” said Guajardo.

Demolition of the current pier is scheduled to begin on Monday. Mayor Peter Zanoni said the pier will be completed in seven months and will open in September.
