Corpus Christi, Texas — Dr. Gloria Scott is a full-time volunteer at Coles High School, creating compliments to share General Powell’s memories with simple goals in mind. “To get to know him, get in touch with his thoughts, and see how it affects this country, this city, this county, this school, CCISD, and the students in it,” she said. say.

As students walk through the hall, they find a board installed by Dr. Scott with a background of General Powell. To make things even more special, Scott knew Powell personally.

“We were both members of the Organizing Committee and Board of Directors of the Smithsonian African-American Museum at the American Museum in Washington, DC,” says Scott.

She will leave memories until October 27th. She also hosts an essay contest where students can write essays to Powell to compete for prizes. Cash comes out of Dr. Scott’s pocket.

“I hope they learn and get what they can be,” she says.
