Aiea, Hawaii (KHON2) — Volunteers gathered to beautify schools in the Aiea and Pearl City areas before students returned to class.
Our School Community Day – Service Day took place on Saturday, July 31st.

The seven beautified schools were “Aiea Elementary School,” “Aiea High School,” “Highland Junior High School,” “Lehua Elementary School,” “Pearlridge Elementary School,” “Pearl City High School,” and “Waiau Elementary School.”
“Before the start of the new 2021-2022 school year on August 3, various community groups will paint, clean overgrown landscaping, and dispose of debris on 10 campuses in our district.” Said Senator Bennett Misalcha. “When people dedicate themselves through community service, they feel connected by working with their neighbors, so I am excited to launch this initiative aimed at establishing a culture of service. We hope that Community Day at our school will fill a sense of pride and joy among the members of the community, especially our Keiki who are looking forward to coming back in the fall. “
Participating community groups include the Hawaii State Accounting Office (DAGS), Aiea High School Parent-Teacher Student Organization, Oahu County Democratic Area 5, Pigeon Project, Boy Scout Unit 75, Pearlside Church, and Mana. Lower Nimitz Lions Club, LDS Jesus Christ Church, New Town, Rotary Club at Hickam Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head / Kaimuki.
