The concrete median strip will be installed along the 4.5-mile highway between Elkhorn Avenue and Excelsior Avenue.
Construction will begin this week and will be completed in mid-August, a person familiar with the matter said in a press release.
According to officials, the new barrier will help prevent cross-collisions along dangerous roads that have had hundreds of crashes in the last five years and several fatalities.
In January, Caltrans painted double stripes along the road and added rumble strips as a temporary fix to slow traffic in the area.
The construction of this barrier took place after the Facebook group advocating widening Highway 41 received the support of more than 4,600 people.
Widening work on the trunk road is still underway.
Last week, the Fresno Government Policy Board voted to use the funds of Measure C to complete the expansion project on Highway 41 in Fresno County.
