Conway, South Carolina (WBTW) —According to police, a man in Conway was convicted after showing a video showing a dog being repeatedly beaten with an object.
According to police, 49-year-old Marcel Antonio Riggins was sentenced to another five days in prison instead of paying a fine. According to police, the dog was exposed to “unnecessary pain and distress.”
Police were called to a house in the 4900 block of Murray Johnson Road in the Conway area in June for reports of animal cruelty. The six dogs involved in the incident surrendered.
The video obtained by News13 shows what appears to be someone tying a dog and hitting it with something. You can see the dog being beaten many times and jumping repeatedly to avoid being beaten. A second person can be seen in the video, but their involvement is unknown. News13 has chosen not to share the video due to its graphic nature.
Police said the surrendered dog was not available for rescue adoption. Police thanked the community for informing them of their social media posts.
