Gabe Lozano Golf Center will host the Broken Chains Recovery Center’s 2nd Annual TeeIt Up for Recovery event on Saturday.
The event will raise funds for a faith-based charity center that provides housing and support groups for people suffering from addiction.
At the heart of the event is Charlotte Davis from Corpus Christi, who is in charge of coordinating the event.
Davis and her family are not strangers to the struggle associated with addiction. Her father has recovered for nearly 10 years.
“It has been a big part of the story of our family,” Davis said.
Most recently, he is a board member of the program. At his prompt, Davis planned and coordinated the 2019 tournament. “It was a great time, and the turnout was great,” Davis said. “We will raise $ 10,000 in that first year.”
In the future, the organizers hope to use this money to rebuild the Costreats site and include more rooms.
“We are currently leasing real estate and have been approved to buy the land,” Davis said. “Things are beginning to look good in the growth of an organization.”
In 2019, the organization served approximately 9,000 people. They expect the number to grow as the agency continues to grow.
For Davis, hosting an event is more than funding. It is to help people reach their full potential.
“If people feel led to donations, we can help more people,” Davis said. “We want to make sure we have the resources people need to succeed.”
