Riverside, California 2021-12-04 07:30:06 –

The Corpus Christi Education Foundation has awarded Corpus Christi ISD teachers 62 grants totaling $ 123,211.75.

Recipients were selected from applications that showed a desire to provide students with an engaging learning experience, both inside and outside the classroom wall.

Grants are provided by several sponsors such as Capturing Kids’ Hearts, American Bank Center, HEB, Valero, Texas A & M University-Corpus Christi.

Six grants were given to Cunningham at South Park Middle School on Friday. President Gina Prince said the Foundation will fund what the school district cannot fund.

“We are a kind of aid,” Prince said. “It’s a great time to go around school and see how excited teachers are about getting this extra money for their students. Their passion is incredible.”

Teachers and students at Cunningham Junior High School in South Park will take pictures after receiving a grant from the Corpus Christi Education Foundation on Friday, December 3, 2021.

Fernando Alvia was one of the 11 teachers who received a grant in junior high school. His grant application was called “carrots, eggs, or coffee beans.”

“What we are trying to do is make the STEM in our school available to everyone here,” says Albiar. “We don’t want to exclude anyone. STEM is male-dominated, so we’re trying to get more females involved in STEM. I’m going to get STEM interested and give it an opportunity. “.”
