Waco’s BSR Surf Resort welcomed surfers from all over Texas on Sunday at the first Red Bull Foam Wreckers event.
Corpus Christi’s Shane Wiggins won the top spot in the competition and became the first winner in the first series of Form Wreckers.
From the heart of professional surfer Jamie O’Brien, the contest consisted of participants spinning wheels containing pictures of different types of surfboards and deciding which board to ride in that round.
33-year-old Wiggins was born in the Dallas / Fort Worth area and moved to Corpus Christi when he was 10 months old. A favorite spot for Wiggins to catch the waves in the bay is Bob Hall Pier.
Wiggins wasn’t the only surfer to enter the contest from Coastal Bend. Corpus Christi’s Serena Nava finished third on the podium alongside Wiggins.
Corpus Christi’s Nate Floyd, Brittany Falkner and Morgan Falkner from Port Aranthus all traveled to Waco to catch some of the artificial waves.
Next Red Bull Foam Wrecker Event Scheduled for June 26th in Long Beach, NJ.
