Corpus Christi police are searching for a man suspected of being shot by a police officer.
Around 2 pm on Wednesday, police responded to the uproar at Weber Road’s 5900 block.
One of the subjects shot a police officer and attacked one of them multiple times. Police officers were seriously injured, according to a news release.
The department identified the police officer as senior police officer Manuel Dominguez. Dominguez is being treated at a local hospital and is in a stable condition.
Dominguez has been working in this department for 20 years.
Mayor Paulette Guajard issued a statement late in the afternoon at a briefing on the city’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
“I was relieved to hear that he was in a stable condition and I hope he will recover quickly,” Guajardo said. “The suspect is still unresolved and is currently under investigation. Please contact CCPD if you have any information to resolve this case.”
The suspect, 20-year-old Joshua Powell, is considered armed and dangerous. He is described as standing at a height of 5 feet, 8 inches, and a weight of 155 pounds.
Powell’s state-wide blue alert was issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety on Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
Blue Alerts are issued to inform the community of the criminals desired by law enforcement agencies that have killed or seriously injured local, state, or federal law enforcement officers.
Powell is said to be driving a green 1999 Buick Regal. He was finally seen wearing a dark shirt and khaki trousers.
