Corpus Christi, Texas — Blue Angels flight leader and commander Brian C. Kesseling summons Navy veteran and coastal bend local Bob Batterson after several members of the U.S. military have been awarded Buc Day-related honors. I did.

He received great applause and was given a still image of the angels in formation. Below, it has been signed by several members.

“It’s unbelievable to have such an opportunity,” Butterson said.

The 100-year-old Pearl Harbor survivor shook hands, spoke to several members of the Blue Angels, and was given a pin by the Leapfrogs Navy parachute team.

But it was his conversation that he said was most meaningful.

“We had a very interesting conversation,” Batterson said. “Encourage them to engage with everyone else — and they are.”

Batterson is a Lexington volunteer who strongly believes in joining the community.

He said it was an honor to stand between them, adding that he wanted others to be inspired by the sense of unity and trust in the team.

“They had so many different experiences in active duty,” Batterson said. “But again, they all have one purpose. It runs beautifully every time we see it in the air. That’s how our great country must work. We Work together. “
