The Cunningham Water Treatment Plant along the Nuasis River was the first water treatment plant in the city. The facility was built in 1915 and the upgrade was completed in 1950. This property has been abandoned since the 1980s.

Demolition makes the city’s assets available to the community by connecting to the adjacent Labonte Park. As the area of ​​Labonte doubles from 40 acres to 80 acres, the park’s features and amenities will increase. This is the first city asset to be seen driving from I-37 South to Corpus Christi.
