Las Vegas (KTNV) — As the pandemic continues to grow rapidly in southern Nevada, false and disinformation about COVID is being targeted by the Clark County Commission.
A resolution before the Commission during the meeting on Tuesday will declare false alarms of health as a public health crisis and will dedicate the Commission to combating and limiting the spread of false alarms.
The resolution does not define what false information means.
A resolution drafted by the Commissioner said the pandemic had a major impact on the health, security and economy of southern Nevada, with 397,788 people infected and 6,604 killed by the virus as of September 1.
Resolutions that pass the Commission do not have the same effect as the Ordinance because they are not legally binding, but they can clarify how the Commission will take more specific actions at later meetings.
Clark County Commission’s regular meeting begins at 9am
