The Public Health Service said Thursday that another 142 Georgians died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, almost in line with the daily record of 144 deaths set on Tuesday.
Georgia’s daily death toll has begun to skyrocket in the last few days, with 423 deaths in the last 72 hours, according to DPH figures. As far back as January 5, Georgia reports at least 65 deaths daily except January 10 and 11.
Overall, DPH said 10,721 Georgians have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic began. Since January 1, 851 Georgians have died of COVID-19.
