Doctors say it is important to be tested for coronavirus if you have symptoms of COVID-19, even if you are fully vaccinated.
Some people who spoke to NBC10 Boston questioned the need to have a COVID-19 test after receiving the vaccine.
“If you get vaccinated, it will look counterproductive,” said a woman named Patricia.
“No, I’m okay to go,” said Kathleen Rashicott of Millbury, Massachusetts.
However, Dr. Robert Krugman of Worcester’s UMass Memorial Medical Center says vaccinated people still need to be tested when they experience symptoms like COVID.
“It is still very important for people with symptoms to be tested, especially if they are at risk of exposing others,” said Dr. Klugman. “It helps us to understand more about vaccines and viruses.”
Although the vaccines currently on the market are very effective, according to Cragman, vaccinated people can become infected with COVID-19.
“They are not 100% effective, and there are more than 20 healthcare professionals here who are fully vaccinated with COVID, more than two weeks after vaccination,” said Klugman.
And he points out that we are far from reaching herd immunity.
“Most of the population has not yet been vaccinated, and as the virus adapts, there are concerns about the effectiveness of the vaccine,” said Klugman.
“My son is preschool and will probably have the most impact on him, I think so,” said Grafton’s mom, Christine Boucher.
“If it helps the system, I’ll certainly take the test, but I don’t want to say I’ll take the test because it was a nightmare to do it,” said Robert Basmierovsky of Axbridge. Said.
Cragman says he understands hesitation, but claims that the test has improved.
“That’s another thing we understand, but it’s our responsibility to help us by taking the test as a family member, a community member, and a member of the United States and the world. “
According to Cragman, you’re likely to get COVID-19 in the next few years, so you should be tested when you feel sick in the foreseeable future, whether you’re vaccinated or not. ..
