Long Beach, California 2021-05-31 11:43:37 –
Cress Market, which has been downtown Long Beach for the past decade, said goodbye to the community last night at a party attended by a large number of applicants.
About owners Hilda and Javier Ortiz, customer Melissa Valderrama said, “I was warm and hugging from day one.” “It was as if my parents were around us.”
Carole Sergy, Chairman of the North Pine Neighborhood Alliance, recalled nostalgicly that the market connected the community and hosted many non-profit and campaign events and conferences.
Near the end of the party, including DJ and Taco Kart, both owners thanked them for their support.
“There is nothing eternal,” said Javier Ortiz. Both he and Hilda talked about their love for the store and its customers, but also about the sacrifices they made to their health and well-being.
Hilda Ortiz said it was a shame that the store was closed, but it was better to see the love of the community. She also said she was proud of what she had accomplished as an immigrant. Both she and Javier Ortiz immigrated from Mexico decades ago.
Couple Said That they remain on Long Beach.
