Oakland, CA — If you’re thinking about wiping down your kitchen with a bottle of Pine-Sol All-Purpose Cleaner under your sink — don’t. It may contain bacteria that can cause serious illness in people with compromised immune systems.

The Clorox Company announced Tuesday that it has recalled its scented multi-surface and all-purpose cleaners. The recall does not include Pine-Sol, the only product registered as a disinfectant, the iconic original pine scent.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement that the products recalled by the Oakland, Calif.-based company also included scented Clorox Propinesol All Purpose Cleaner and Clorox Professional Pinesol Lemon Fresh Cleaner. Stated.

The product “may contain bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa,” the committee said.

“Bacteria can enter the body by inhalation or through cuts in the eyes or skin. People with healthy immune systems are usually not affected by bacteria,” the committee said.

The commission said that tests found the bacteria in recalled products manufactured between January 2021 and September 2022. Consumers are required to take a picture of the 12-digit UPC code and date code, place the product in a container, throw it in the trash, and contact the company for a refund.
