Crews respond to fire southwest of Las Vegas near Sandy Valley Road, Highway 160 – Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas (KTNV) — Firefighters are responding to outdoor fires in the areas of Sandy Valley Road and Highway 160 southwest of Las Vegas.

Clark County and Mountain Springs fire departments first responded to the incident around 1 pm, officials said.

Since then, the fire has spread to an estimated 200-300 acres, spreading to trees and producing large amounts of smoke.

The Bureau of Land Management and the US Forest Department are also in places to help contain the fire.

As a precautionary measure, authorities say campers and boy scouts have been evacuated from the area.

At this time, no structures at risk have been reported.
