Criminal Justice Professor Named Researcher of the Year | College of Public Affairs and Community Service – Omaha, Nebraska

Dr. Tara Richards, Associate Professor UNO Criminology and Criminal Justice Faculty (SCCJ) was selected as a Researcher of the Year, Faculty of Victims, American Criminal Society.

The Victimology Division (DOV) Award for Best Researcher of the Year is awarded to scholars who have made significant contributions in the field of Victimology over the past two years.

Dr. Richards cites the success of her career and why she received this honor thanks to SCCJ. Victimology and Victim Research Institute.. The lab is dedicated to training the next generation of victim scholars, and Richards is delighted to lead a talented team of five PhDs. Students actively engaged in federal-funded research.

“It’s humble to be recognized by my colleagues as a top scholar in our field,” says Dr. Richards. “This award reflects SCCJ’s outstanding disciplines in Victimology and the team of faculty and graduate students we have built. Victimology and Victim Research Institute..

“Dr. Richards is a great victimologist and his work has a positive impact on the lives of those affected by crime,” said Guy, director of the UNO Criminology and Criminal Justice School. Dr. Lenarmstrong said. “She is a great collaborator and mentor. We are all very proud of this natural recognition.”

The mission of the Victimology Department is to promote the professional growth and development of its members through scholarships, pedagogy, and practices related to the field of Victimology. The Victimology Department has its members 1) contributing to the evolution of the field of victimology by supporting and disseminating cutting-edge research, 2) developing and sharing educational resources, and 3) specialized strengthening work. Support shops and activities, 4) develop evidence-based programs and services, 5) promote victims’ rights, 6) promote the intersection of academics and practice.
