Sacramento (CBS13) – The Crocker Art Museum plans to reopen with a focus on new exhibits that showcase a more diverse group of artists.

“I’ve moved to my neighborhood now, and I’m excited to be able to walk here,” said 90-year-old Gloria Powell.

Powell was one of the first to go through the door on Thursday when Sakura Mentan appeared to provide their support.

“I saw the museum open and wanted to support it,” said Daniel Ronan. “I’ve wanted to be here for months.”

With 25% capacity rules, strict antiseptic measures, and timed tickets, Crocker presents a more comprehensive exhibit featuring African-American artists.

“Art really has a huge meaning to many people. People connect and find joy here. Meaning,” said museum spokesman Maria Segobiano.

Segobiano gave insights into what visitors could see when they were in the crocker.

“We have one exhibition called Los Angeles legend Featuring works by Betye, Lezley and Alisson Saar, it is a mother and two daughters.
