A common petition court in Kaiyahoga County confirmed that Judge Nancy McDonnell had died. No details were revealed other than the fact that 62-year-old McDonnell died Tuesday afternoon with her husband John Costco.
Judge McDonnell has been in the Civil Litigation Court since 1997 and was the first female executive and presiding judge in the court from 2006 to 2009. McDonnell recently presided over the drug court and McDonnell CenterA community-based correctional facility, was dedicated in her name. She lived in Lakewood.
“Judge McDonnell was, very simply, one of the most powerful people I have ever known,” Judge Brendan J. Sheehan said in a statement provided to the media. Said. “Today is a sad day for our court and Judge Nancy McDonnell’s personal and professional family, but we and the citizens of Kaiyahoga County are on our bench and in our lives. I was fortunate to have her. ”
According to her court background, McDonnell graduated from the Catholic University of America and the Cleveland-Marshall Law College. Prior to joining the bench in 1997, he was an assistant prosecutor for Kaiyahoga County and a judge in the Lakewood District Court for major trial splits.
