Pueblo, Colorado-Pueblo School District 60 hosted its first computer science convention at the East High School Media Center on Thursday.
The goal of the convention is to increase student participation in computer science education. Students had the opportunity to work on an interactive station with holograms, coding, binary code applications, and games. There were also obstacle courses in robotics and awards for coding and digital design challenges.
“I’ve always wanted to be an engineer, so I love it,” said Hayden Morgan, the 8th grade winner of the coding competition. “In fact, my favorite inventor is Nikola Tesla. Best of all, I can code some robots.”
Technology companies such as Google, Mind-Spark Learning, Collins Aerospace and Quantum Research also participated.
