As residents look to a reopening day in late summer, the state will move on Monday to the next step in a phased reopening plan, easing capacity and relaxing social distance guidelines.

More indoor and outdoor venues will reopen with increased capacity after state health officials say COVID-19 cases have decreased by 20%. This is the lowest level since last summer.

From stadiums and nightclubs to social distances and rally restrictions, here are some important dates and what you need to know about the Massachusetts reopening timeline.

May 10

Starting Monday, May 10, the capacity of large venues such as indoor and outdoor stadiums, arenas and stadiums will increase from 12% to 25%.

Amusement parks, theme parks and outdoor water parks are only allowed to operate at 50% capacity after submitting a safety plan to the state health ministry.

Large outdoor organization amateur and professional group athletic events, including road races, are allowed to be held at staggered start times. Amateur sports tournaments for youth and adults are also permitted in both moderate and high-risk sports.

Indoor performances, event venues, restaurants and other businesses are allowed to sing with strict social distance guidelines.

May 29

From Saturday, May 29th, the limit for indoor meetings will be increased to 200 people. Outdoor rally limits will also increase to 250 in both public and private settings, as well as event venues.

Street festivals, parades and agricultural festivals can be held with 50% capacity after submitting a safety plan to local health authorities.

Bars, beer gardens, breweries, wineries and distilleries follow the same guidelines as restaurants and offer only 90 minutes of seating service, not a dance floor.

Due to public health and vaccination data pending, the restaurant’s maximum table size has been increased to 10 and the guidance that alcohol should be served with meals is removed.

Aug. 1

Starting Sunday, August 1st, all industry limits will be lifted and capacity limits will be raised to 100%. However, companies are still encouraged to follow best practice guidance on public health safety measures.

Collection restrictions are revoked in both indoor and outdoor settings.

Dance clubs and nightclubs are allowed to reopen. Gyms and health clubs can re-provide saunas, hot tubs and steam rooms as amenities for members. You can also reopen the indoor water park and ball pit.
