In the campaign video, Padew is targeting the current Governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp.
“Look, I like Brian. It’s not personal, it’s simple. He fails all of us and can’t win in November,” says Padew.
Purdue also accused Kemp of losing the election in January.
Padew lost a bid for re-election to the US Senate in a final vote with Democrat Jon Ossoff. The loss helped Democrats gain control of the Senate.
Kemp aroused the wrath of former President Donald Trump. Donald Trump also accused Kemp of not doing enough to win Georgia’s victory in the presidential election.
In a statement on Monday, Trump criticized Kemp, repeating unfounded allegations that the election was stolen.
“This is very interesting and I can’t imagine Brian Kemp, who so badly undermined the integrity of Georgia’s elections, would work in the ballot box,” said the former president.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Kemp’s campaign went shortly after Purdue.
Cody Hall, Communications Director for the Kemp Campaign, said:
The winner of the Republican primary may face Democrat Stacey Abrams in the general election. She lost less than 2% to Kemp in 2018.
