Tampa, Florida 2021-01-07 10:22:39 –
The mayor of Washington, DC, Muriel Bowser, will hold a press conference Thursday at 11:00 am, the day after hundreds of Trump supporters raided the US Capitol during the riots.
Four people were killed in the riots on Wednesday. One was shot by police and the other three died in first aid. Over 50 people have been arrested.
When the riots began to break through the Capitol, Bowser declared a curfew between 6 pm Wednesday and 6 am Thursday. She later extended the emergency in the city for the remaining 15 days of President Donald Trump’s term.
“President Trump continues to incite anger and violence by claiming that the presidential election is invalid,” Kuppa said in a statement in extending the public emergency. “People are dissatisfied with the judicial decision and the findings of the State Election Commission, and some can expect to continue violent protests throughout the inauguration.”
Extending public emergencies gives Bowser the flexibility to impose a curfew or demand disaster relief funding from the federal government.
