Cambridge, Massachusetts. (WHDH) – Pet owners in the Cambridge area are angry and alert after MSPCA says they are responsible for killing cats and torturing two more.

“What’s happening with animals being taken and tortured in our neighborhood is absolutely evil,” said resident Sage Carbon. “You wouldn’t expect this to happen here.”

Last week, police found a cat left with duct tape on its hind legs under a car that had been burned multiple times with a BB gun. The cat, named Gosha, later died.

According to MSPCA, the other two cats were similarly attacked. Patty Zerhusen said the cat Buddy went missing and returned home with the same burns that Gosha suffered.

“I’m very angry about what happened to Buddy and what happened to Gosha,” Zelfusen said.

Authorities are asking their neighbors to watch over their pets carefully and give them hints.

“You’ll want to step up more than ever and solve it before it happens to another cat again,” said Officer Nadia Moreno.

Rewards are provided for any information that could lead to arrest.
