Rockport PD accepts packages from major carriers except USPS until Christmas Eve.
Rockport, Texas —’Pleasure, faith, gifts, and so … It’s the season for pirates on the pouch.
For the third consecutive year, the Rockport Police Department offers a holiday season program aimed at reducing potential baggage theft and providing peace of mind to residents.
Known as “Operation Safe Delivery,” this program provides residents with the opportunity to deliver their holiday packages to safe locations (Rockport, Rockport, Texas, Rockport Police Station, 714 E Concho St).
Residents who have sent the package to the department can request the package from 9 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and from 9 am to 1 pm on weekends until Christmas Eve.
The package should not exceed 35 pounds and should not require refrigeration. In addition, the individual receiving the package must present an order / shipment receipt and a valid government-issued photo ID.
“Theft of the front pouch package wasn’t a problem at Rockport, but its unprecedented growth can be seen in news articles and social media,” said Rockport Police Chief Greg Stevens. “Our goal is to minimize the chance of this happening at the lockport and reduce the stress of the holidays.”
Questions about the program can be sent to Commander Larry Sinclair or Chief Greg Stevens ((361) 790-1101).
