The union on behalf of Delta Air Lines and its pilots has reached a preliminary cost-cutting agreement to avoid a furlough until January 1, 2022, the union said Thursday.
This agreement requires approval from Delta’s early 13,000 pilots. This agreement will reduce the minimum monthly guarantee time by 5%. The company planned to dismiss up to 1,941 pilots. Employees of a temporarily dismissed airline usually have the right to recall the company, but given the downturn in the pandemic industry, it’s not clear when that’s possible.
Earlier this month, American Airlines and United Airlines began hiring more than 30,000 employees. Airlines were banned from cutting jobs until October 1 under the $ 25 billion condition of federal aid to the sector.
Atlanta-based airlines have other frontline workers, such as flight attendants, furled thanks to about 18,000 employees, about one-fifth of the pre-pandemic staff who chose to buy out. Said that he escaped. Delta has postponed the planned furlough until November 1 as negotiations with the pilot continued.
Delta Air Lines said it will postpone the effective date of the furlough until November 28 so that pilots can vote.
