The Denver City Council has approved a request for rezoning of land blocks in the Renoart district of Five Points, paving the way for developers to build about 1,000 residential units and commercial spaces on about 13 acres or about 10 football fields. ..
The council voted 12-1 to approve the rezoning on Monday. Councilor Kandy Kudebaka voted against it.
This change affects the location where Broadway turns into Brighton Boulevard and the four plots between the South Platte River. They include the 2650 Arkins Ct. , 3205 Denargo St., 3280 Denargo St., and 2700 Wewatta Way, surrounded by apartments and industrial spaces.
The currently fenced and vacant space was zoned for residential and commercial buildings, with a maximum height of 75 feet and even 220 feet in some plots.
Zoning approved on Monday will continue to allow multipurpose buildings, but the 2650 Arkins Ct will increase the maximum height to 250 feet. Also, of the four plots, some buildings will be raised to 110, 150, and 200 feet, with lower heights closer to the river and higher heights at the center of development.
