Hilo, Hawaii (KHON2) — The Public Security Bureau has confirmed that one worker and 61 prisoners tested positive for COVID-19 at the Hawaii Community Correction Center in Hilo.

After a mass test of 119 prisoners, 58 were negative and 61 were positive.

According to the department’s report, the total number of positive inmates at the facility was 71.

Of the 49 staff members tested, 1 was positive and 48 were negative.

All prisoners’ residences are quarantined.
