Fresno, California 2021-05-30 21:56:00 –

Fresno, CA (KFSN) –The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is touring the county lakes this Memorial Day weekend.

The patrol began on Saturday, and lawmakers say they have stopped nearly 40 times on Shaver Lake so far. This is comparable to a typical weekend.

Apart from Lake Shaver, deputies also patrol Lake Huntington, Lake Redinger, and Lake Pine Flat.

When it comes to safety, authorities are urging people not to drink water or steer ships.

They also require drivers to pay close attention to other boats and underwater obstacles due to the low water levels.

If you are not good at swimming, the authorities will ask you to stay out of the water.

Those who want to swim are asked to swim near the shore. Children under the age of 12 are required to wear a life jacket.

Conductors of vessels under the age of 40 are required to obtain a new vessel license this year.

Usually on Memorial Day weekends, deputies patrol the Kings River, but due to low water volumes, they moved the patrols to mountain lakes.

Lawmakers say they will continue to patrol once water begins to flow into the Kings River.
