Devastating Tuscarawas County fire destroys warehouse full of Toys for Tots gifts – Cleveland, Ohio

Tuscarawas County, Ohio (WJW) — A catastrophic fire destroyed a building containing thousands of dollars worth of toys. Tuscarawas County Monday evening.

The toys were stored in a warehouse that is currently burned down as part of the Toys for Tots program of the local US Marine Corps, which is working to get gifts for children during the holiday season.

Marine veteran Robert Stratton was in his office on Monday, hearing the noise and coming out to see the roof of the warehouse / workshop burning. He called the fire department and he said the wind was terrible.

The fire is now extinguished, but even early Tuesday afternoon, a small flame was seen in the debris. According to Stratton, a new toy worth about $ 8,000 was demolished in flames.

“It will be a little late. We will resume activity tomorrow,” Stratton told Fox8’s Dave Nethers about the fire.

Starting tomorrow, the group is accepting Toys for Tots donations at the Calvary Methodist Church in Sherrodsville, Ohio.
